Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and led by Ranveer Singh, is no longer just a blockbuster — it has officially entered the record books. Released on December 5, 2025, the spy action thriller has crossed Rs 800 crore net at the Indian box office, becoming the first Hindi film ever to achieve this milestone.
Producer Jio Studios confirmed that the film has collected Rs 806.80 crore in India within 30 days, while its worldwide gross now stands at Rs 1186.25 crore. The film’s week-wise performance reflects rare consistency: Rs 218 crore in week one, Rs 261.5 crore in week two, Rs 188.3 crore in week three, and Rs 115.70 crore in week four. Strong weekend collections continue to fuel its historic run.
Anurag Kashyap’s Honest and Layered Review
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently shared his review of Dhurandhar on Letterboxd, praising its craft while openly addressing his disagreements. He called the film “brilliant” and applauded Dhar’s filmmaking, though he flagged two politically charged dialogues he did not agree with.
Kashyap highlighted his long association with Dhar, dating back to the latter’s National Award-winning short film Boond, and described him as a filmmaker driven by “genuine politics.” He noted that Dhar’s personal history as a Kashmiri Pandit informs his storytelling and stressed that while one may agree or disagree with the politics, the honesty behind it is undeniable. Comparing Dhurandhar to acclaimed Hollywood war films, Kashyap said he chose to ignore the propaganda elements and instead admired the film’s stubborn, confident vision — singling out Ranveer Singh’s performance as his favourite for its restraint and security.
What Dhurandhar Is About
The film is the first part of a planned two-part series. It follows an Indian spy infiltrating Karachi’s criminal and political underworld, weaving real geopolitical events such as the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and Operation Lyari into its narrative.
The ensemble cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt, with strong supporting turns from Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun, and Danish Pandor.

Suriya Joins the Applause
Adding to the film’s growing list of admirers, Tamil star Suriya Sivakumar publicly praised Dhurandhar, calling it a “masterpiece” and applauding Dhar’s craft. He also congratulated Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, while giving special praise to Madhavan for his transformation.
Responding to the post, Dhar expressed gratitude for the encouragement, while Madhavan said the praise meant “the world” to him. With audience support, industry acclaim, and records tumbling, Dhurandhar has firmly cemented its place as one of Bollywood’s most significant theatrical triumphs.
