Sangati Jogwar

Bunty Aur Babli was a superhit YRF movie starring one of the most famous Bollywood pairs-Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee. The chemistry between these two stars was so sensational that even Karan Johar could not resist himself from repeating it in his “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” multi-star cast flick. Similarly, Sadak was a milestone film for both Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt with Mahesh Bhatt exposing some harsh truths about women trafficking and brothels in Mumbai.

Despite the awkward short Pooja Bhatt and tall Sanjay Dutt pairing, the film became a hit and received appreciation from the critics. Now after long gap sequels to these two iconic movies are being produced. Lately, there has been a spree of sequels and remakes in Bollywood and the latest example is “Dabangg 3.”

New & Repeat Pairing

The common formula followed in B-town for sequels is either the same lead star cast is retained adding some new characters in the side roles or a fresh team of actors but with the story revolving around the same theme as original is produced. While “Dabangg” and “Dhoom” franchise falls in the first category, sequels like “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” or “Dostana 2” that has entirely fresh star cast fall in the second category.

But Bunty Aur Babli-2 or Sadak-2 are the sequels that differ from this normal format. For Sadak-2, Mahesh Bhatt has roped in his daughter Alia Bhatt and “Aashiqui-2” star Aditya Roy Kapur. Interestingly, Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt who played the lead role in the first movie will also have parallel roles and will reprise their old characters along with the new ones.

Similarly in the case of “Bunty Aur Babli 2,” the lead star cast will include fresh pair of Siddhant Chaturvedi, debutant Sharvari Wagh, Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan. In this sequel as well the old characters will have a parallel role with the new one. However, there is one difference here that Saif Ali Khan will be playing the character of Abhishek Bachchan as Junior B did not accept this offer.
