Back in 2012, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty won hearts with their stylish rom-com Cocktail. Now, director Homi Adajania is back with a sequel, this time featuring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. The team is currently shooting in picturesque Italy, but leaked videos from the sets have already sparked fiery debates online.

Leaked Clips Stir Comparisons

One viral clip shows Shahid with his arm around Rashmika as Kriti walks beside them. Another captures a tender moment between Shahid and Rashmika, observed silently by Kriti. Fans were quick to draw parallels with the original film where Saif’s Gautam fell for Diana’s Meera, leaving Deepika’s Veronica heartbroken.

On Reddit, viewers didn’t hold back. “Hope it’s not copy-paste,” one wrote, while another sighed, “In what world did Cocktail need a part 2?” Some even mapped characters, calling Kriti the “new Deepika” and Rashmika the 'new Diana.' Others demanded a twist: "If the two girls don’t end up together, we don’t want it. Give us the sapphic romcom we deserve!"

The Legacy of Cocktail

Produced by Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan, the original Cocktail was a stylish story of love, friendship, and heartbreak set in London. Its refreshing narrative, glamorous treatment, and chartbusters like Tumhi Ho Bandhu and Daaru Desi made it a hit. Gautam’s choice of Meera over Veronica left audiences both teary-eyed and divided.

Will Part 2 Deliver?

With Shahid, Kriti, and Rashmika stepping into similar dynamics, fans fear déjà vu. While some are excited for a fresh take, others worry that a modern classic might get diluted in the name of a sequel.
