Shilpa’s comeback follows years of Shubhangi Atre carrying the role forward after Shilpa’s exit. Shubhangi portrayed Angoori Bhabi for nearly a decade, becoming a familiar and cherished presence for viewers. However, recent remarks by Shilpa about Shubhangi’s portrayal stirred fresh debate online, prompting Shubhangi to finally address the chatter.
Shubhangi Atre Breaks Silence, 'Mein copy kar hi...'
In an interview with Telly Chakar, Shubhangi firmly addressed the allegations, stating, "But mein copy kar hi nahi rahi hoon. Dekhiye, jab Shilpa ne ye baat kahi thi, to maine unko jawab bhi diya tha ki jaise wo personal life mein... I am not copying Shilpa Shinde, I am doing, whatever is in the frame of Angoori Bhabi."
She further clarified that certain traits are inherent to the character and cannot be altered at will.
"So agar Angoori Bhabi Bhojpuri bolti hai, to.. I have to speak in Bhojpuri, mein suki language to change nahi kar sakti. Aur aap feel karenge, Shilpa ke episodes mein aur meri episodes mein... Toh, har insan apne individuality kisi character mein dalta hai. So, I have put my individuality in that character," she added.

What Shilpa Shinde Said About Shubhangi’s Angoori?
Earlier, Shilpa Shinde, in a separate interaction with Telly Chakkar, shared her candid thoughts on Shubhangi stepping into a role that was already iconic. While acknowledging Shubhangi’s effort and talent, she underlined how difficult comedy can be, especially when audiences are deeply attached to the original performer.
"Dekhiye as an actor, maine us waqt bhi bola tha jab controversy chal rahi thi, very frankly, usne kaam kiya hai achha. Achhi actress hai but comedy sabke bas ki baat nahi hai. Aur uske baad kisiko copy karna, wo bohot mushkil hai, bohot pressure hota hai," Shilpa remarked.
She went on to stress that originality plays a crucial role in leaving a lasting impact, adding, "Dekho aaj main kitna bhi sochu kisi actress ko copy karna, toh wo copy ho jaati hai. Chahe main kitni bhi achhi acting karu."
According to Shilpa, portraying an entirely original character might have allowed Shubhangi Atre to shine even more distinctly.
