Ayushmann Khurrana is one actor who never shies away from playing different roles. His versatility has kept him free from being bracketed into a particular category for example action heroes like Tiger Shroff or romantic heroes like Shah Rukh Khan or Rishi Kapoor. And this strategy has always worked in his favor. In his upcoming movie “Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan” Ayushmann is playing the role of a gay person.

Known for taking up new challenges, the “Andhadhun” actor did not have any doubt regarding playing a homosexual. However, many in his closed-circuit advised him to re-think on this aspect. Even his wife Tahira wondered how their children would react to their father playing a gay character. In her tweet, Tahira says that when she asked their 8-year-old if he is okay with his dad playing a gay, the boy who knows about homosexuality innocently said what is there not to be ok about it.

Tahira wrote she was teary-eyed and felt proud for their young son.

Doing Gay Character Was Important Decision For Ayushmann

The National Award-winning actor said, “Doing 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' was one of the most important decisions of my life.” According to him a lot of people from the film fraternity asked him to rethink as no leading hero until now have tried for it. But the “Dream Girl” actor who is always looking to do something new said, “I knew, this stereotype needed to be shattered and the time to change it, is now. I somehow knew I had to do it and take the plunge.”

Now that was indeed a brave decision on part of Ayushmann Khurrana and irrespective of whether the movie becomes a hit just like his previous ones or not, the courage that Ayushmann has shown indicates that for him being an actor is more important than being a star.
