Atlee clears air on Shah Rukh Khan collaboration, Jawan 2 plans and directing Don 3

When Jawan stormed theatres in 2023, it wasn’t just another Shah Rukh Khan release - it was a full-blown cinematic event. The pan-India action spectacle shattered records and reintroduced SRK in a fierce, massy avatar, crafted meticulously by filmmaker Atlee. Is Jawan 2 on the Cards?

While audiences have been eagerly hoping for a sequel, Atlee has now cooled down the speculation during an exclusive interview with India Today. Speaking candidly, the director revealed that a follow-up to Jawan isn’t part of his immediate plans. However, he did reassure fans that another collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan is almost inevitable - just not necessarily in the form of Jawan 2. 

"I think me and Shah Rukh sir will definitely work on something. But Jawan 2, I personally feel, [can only happen] maybe after some years. It won't be the immediate next. But we will look into something. When that idea comes, or something happens organically, we will definitely do something," Atlee said.

The Don 3 Rumours - Fact or Fiction?

Adding to the chatter was another intriguing rumour: Shah Rukh Khan supposedly agreeing to star in Don 3 only if Atlee took the director’s chair. With Farhan Akhtar’s franchise already making headlines, the gossip gained traction quickly. But Atlee dismissed the claims with a smile, calling them baseless speculation rather than reality.

"I also read about it, but there's nothing like that. It's just a rumour," the director said.
