After winning hearts in Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara alongside Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda has become one of Bollywood’s most talked-about young stars. Fans have been eagerly speculating about her next project, and the suspense around Maddock Films’ upcoming horror-comedy Shakti Shalini is finally over. While the makers initially asked the public not to believe rumours, the mystery unraveled with the release of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma.

From Romantic Drama to Spooky Screens

It’s now confirmed that Aneet Padda is stepping into the lead role of Shakti Shalini, marking her first venture into the horror-comedy genre. The film, originally planned for 2025, is now set to release on December 24, 2026. Maddock Films dropped a special teaser video along with the Thamma theatrical release, describing her character as: “the creator, the destroyer, and the mother of all."

Interestingly, early reports had pegged Kiara Advani for the role, but Aneet has taken over, signaling a major milestone in her career.

A Sneak Peek Sparks Social Media Frenzy

Moreover, a mysterious still, reportedly from the film, has also gone viral. It shows a woman in a flowing white lehenga floating mid-air in a dense forest, her long braid swinging behind her. Her face is hidden, but fans are convinced it’s Aneet, and the image has ignited a storm of speculation online.

The Rise of Aneet Padda

Aneet made her debut in Revathi’s Salaam Venky, featuring Kajol and Vishal Jethwa, and later appeared in the web series Big Girls Don’t Cry alongside Pooja Bhatt, Mukul Chadda, and Raima Sen.

However, her breakthrough came with Saiyaara, where her chemistry with debutant Ahaan Panday won audience hearts. The romantic drama became one of 2025’s highest-grossing films, raking in Rs 569.75 crore worldwide and solidifying Aneet as a household name.
