Mumbai/Bhubaneswar:The Student of the Year-2 (SOTY-2) star Ananya Panday was recently making headlines not for her debut performance but for her educational stature. The 20 years old actress and daughter of Chunky Panday, during the promotions of SOTY-2, mentioned that she was ready to go to USC (University of Southern California) for her further studies but she stayed back to give acting one shot before leaving.

"I was all set to go to college. I was going to USC (University of Southern California) to study but wanted to give it one shot before I left. So I went and auditioned for the film. And luckily, I got it. This is a dream come true," Ananya was quoted saying. Ananya’s mother Bhavna Panday backed her statement by confirming it on FB.

However, several eyes-brows raised when Ananya’s schoolmate, who goes by the name AnnieePee on Instagram claimed that the actress was lying about her academics and was faking about her admission into USC.

The latter claimed that Ananya didn’t apply for USC as she always said that she wanted to act and take a year gap.

“Our school has a set of counselors and we all know where everyone is applying and going. Ananya didn’t even get assigned a counselor because she always said she wanted to act or take a a gap,” AnnieePee posted on Instagram.

“All of a sudden in March when USC released its decisions, she started saying she got accepted! But she didn’t even apply because our school conducts mock SATs which she never took. Everyone asked her to show her acceptance letter but she kept saying it’s lost,” she further added.

Elsewhere, Ananya’s father Chunky told IANS he wasn't aware of the social media buzz around his daughter's education.

Reacting to the allegations, Ananya told Mumbai Mirror, “Once a film is out, people start making up stuff. I have no idea who this person is.”

Ananya Panday will soon be seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in the remake of the film, Pati Patni Aur Woh.
