Hyderabad/Bhubaneswar: The Stylish Star Allu Arjun has recently unfollowed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the only person he was following on Twitter. Such a move of the star, who has a massive fan following (2.22M on Twitter only), surprised everyone but the reason behind it is believed to be quite pertinent to what all is going on in Andhra Pradesh.

According to a report of the website, Telugu360, Allu Arjun unfollowed PM Modi as the ruling-BJP government at the Centre ignored the demand of Andhra Pradesh to grant special status to the State. Disappointed with the way the BJP government has been treating Telugu states, the ‘Badrinath’ star unfollowed the PM, it reported.

It is worth mentioning that Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu has been demanding special status to the state citing that it deserves to be treated as a special case so that it gets more central funds as it was carved up in 2014 to create Telangana and the current capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Hyderabad, will be transferred exclusively to the latter in 2024.

However, due to alleged indifference by the Centre over the issue, Naidu walked out of the NDA coalition, delivering a huge blow to the BJP ahead of the 2019 general elections.

"I took the decision not for selfish reasons but for the interests of Andhra Pradesh. For four years I made all efforts, went to Delhi 29 times, asked many times. This was the centre's last budget and there was no mention of Andhra Pradesh," Naidu said in the Andhra assembly after breaking ties with NDA on March 16.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun is currently busy with his upcoming Vakkantham Vamsi-directed movie ‘Naa Peru Surya’. Anu Emmanuel will be seen as the female lead alongside Bunny in the movie.

‘Naa Peru Surya’ will hit the theaters on May 4, 2018.
