Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmii has been controversy’s favorite child ever since the movie was announced. The movie dropped on Disney + Hotstar app last night and since then the netizens have been vocal about how Laxmii has bombed in terms of content and acting.
After several delays and deliberations, the much-waited horror-comedy premiered early on November 9 as opposed to its scheduled release on Diwali. Unfortunately, Laxmii seems to have left a bad taste on the mouth of most critics and viewers, so much so that the film is now being badly trolled.

The audience took to Twitter to express their disappointment as #LaxmiiReview trended on Twitter overnight. The reviews were mostly negative, while some pointed at the outdated dialogues and screenplay, some mocked the overacting of the actors. The movie is now being dubbed as ‘a cheap remake’ of the original hit Tamil film Kanchana.

#LaxmiiReview: I am sure #AkshayKumar would be jumping with joy that #Laxmii did not release in theatres or else he would have had a #BOXOFFICE Disaster!! Nothing is good about this one!!

Akki fans who were excited about seeing the actor in a new avatar were also left high and dry. While some people felt that the film made a caricature of transgenders with bad writing, some thought the film was demeaning to a certain religion. Distasteful, Boring, Obsolete are the key words some viewers are using to review the movie.

Looking at the reviews seems like it was for the greater good of both audience and producers that the movie didn’t get a theatrical release.
