The first look from the upcoming “Maidaan” movie of Ajay Devgn was unveiled recently. The actor plays the role of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim who was a major contributor to the golden era of Indian football during the 1950s. In one of the two posters, Ajay is seen facing his football team standing in the rain with his back to the camera. Another poster shows him joyfully kicking a football carrying a bag and an umbrella and dressed in formal wear.

While sharing his poster, in the tweet Ajay wrote, “Yeh Kahani hai Indian football ke Golden phase ki aur uske sabse badey aur successful coach ki. #Maidaan.” The message gives out what the audience can expect from the movie. The movie stars Priyamani as the female lead. The actor announced this movie last year by releasing a poster showing a huge globe-shaped football with “The Golden Era of Indian Football” from 1952-1962 as a caption.



Ajay’s Take On Changing Scenario In Bollywood’s Filmmaking

“Maidaan” is going to be quite a different movie for Ajay Devgn as lately the audience has seen him only doing action movies. So why did the “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior” actor decided to do it? According to Ajay, the story of “Maidaan” is fabulous and its director Amit Sharma has done a wonderful job. The actor further added, “Times have changed, storytelling has changed. There are no deliberate commercial elements added to a film today, be it a song or a romantic angle. Maidaan has been a very moving and emotional journey for me.”

Indeed the last decade saw a huge metamorphosis in the way movies are being made. With the web space offering better options for presenting creative content, filmmakers are now trying to be more realistic instead of showing the same run and dance or dramatic sequences. Even though movies like “Dabangg 3” and “ Housefull 4” continues to attract crores of collection new topics and novel ways of story-telling like in “Uri” or “Andhadhun” make more impact and stay in the minds of the audience for a longer period.
