10 feared dead during Tamil superstar Vijay’s rally in TN’s Karur

At least 10 people, including three children, are feared dead after collapsing during a rally addressed by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay in Tamil Nadu's Karur on Saturday. Large crowds had gathered for the meeting, part of Vijay’s ongoing State tour.

Several people reportedly fainted in the rush and were rushed to the Karur Medical College Hospital and private hospitals nearby. Hospital sources said many others were undergoing treatment, some of them were in a critical condition.

He said he had spoken to former minister Senthil Balaji, Minister Subramanian Ma, and the District Collector, while instructing Minister Anbil Mahesh from Tiruchirappalli to rush and extend assistance.

Stalin also said he had asked the ADGP to take swift measures to bring the situation under control and appealed to the public to cooperate with doctors and police.

“As of now, seven adults and three children have died. More cases are coming in, and ambulances are still arriving. We need more time to compile the complete details,” The Hindu quoted Karur Medical College hospital dean R. Shanthimalar.
