Bhubaneswar: Accusing BJP of violating model code of conduct, a delegation of the BJD today lodged a complaint before the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar here.

The BJD alleged that senior leader and BJP Vice-president Baijayant Panda is engaging video-campaigning vehicle in Kendrapara without the required permission from the Chief Electoral Officer. Hoardings of Ujjwala Yojana are still seen put up near Dhauli and Pipili toll gates, thereby violating the model code of conduct, the ruling party further alleged. They also said that no action has been taken by the CEO in connection with BJP's 'fake' intelligence report on Chief Minister's candidature from Bijepur Assembly constituency.

“Baijayant Panda is violating the model code of conduct in Kendrapara by using video-campaign vehicle for which he has not got approval from the competent authority. Moreover, hoardings of Ujjwala Yojana are still placed at different places which is illegal. Therefore, we demand immediate action against them,” said Sasmit Patra, BJD spokesperson.

However, declining the charges, State BJP secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar said, “Only BJD is violating the model code of conduct. Despite the strictures from the CEC, KALIA yojana hoardings can be seen at most places. They (BJD) are engaging government functionaries to influence voters and only pointing fingers at others.”
