Bhubaneswar: The Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry is likely to announce the fresh JEE and NEET exam dates for 2020. The exams were postponed due to nationwide lockdown announced to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The announcement by HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' will give a big relief to the engineering and medical aspirants who are curious for the latest update on the examination.

The Joint Entrance Exam-Mains (JEE-MAINS) is conducted for admission to engineering colleges across the country while the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is held for medical colleges.

As per reports, more than 15 lakh students across the country have registered for NEET this year, whereas over 9 lakh have registered for JEE Mains, the entrance exam for all other engineering colleges except IITs.

The JEE-Mains is considered as a qualifying exam for JEE-Advanced.

The HRD Ministry's National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier given candidates an option to change their opted centres for the two tests as students moved to different places following the COVID-19 lockdown.

On the other hand, universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 16 and there is no clarity yet on when the pending board exams for class 10 and 12 will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The board had announced that it will conduct pending exams in 29 subjects crucial for promotion and admission to higher education institutions.

Moreover, the HRD Minister had advised NTA to extend/revise the dates for submission of online application forms for various examinations. Accordingly, the National Testing Agency extended/revised the dates of submission of Online Application Forms for various Examinations.

Candidates can get the detailed schedule mentioning revised dates of downloading of Admit Cards and of Examination separately on respective examination website(s) and www.nta.ac.in, after assessment of the situation after 15.05.2020 only.
