CBSE Class-X, XII Exam Paper Evaluation From Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: In a significant development, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday granted permission to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to begin evaluation of its Class X and XII board exam answer copies by opening as many as 3000-affiliated schools as evaluation centres. The ministry has allowed teachers to check the exam copies from their homes in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As many as 3000 CBSE affiliated schools have been selected as exam evaluation centres from where over 1.50 crore answer copies of both Class X and XII board exam papers will be despatched to the homes of designated evaluators, informed union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank.’

Even though the entire country is under the third phase of lockdown, the ministry has granted special permission to 16 regional offices of CBSE to function without restrictions in Green and Orange zones and with limited restrictions in the Red zones.

“As far as transportation of answer sheets to the residences of evaluators is concerned, there is no such restriction on the movement except in areas falling in containment zones,” the Home Ministry said in an official letter addressed to Anita Karwal, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, MHRD.

It may be noted that evaluation of the answer sheets of both Class X and XII board exams has been delayed due to a nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the Coronavirus outbreak.

So far, the CBSE has conducted the class X and XII board exams in 173 subjects. The examinations for the rest 29 subjects has already been finalised and they will be held between July 1 and 15. The results are likely to be declared in the month of August after the evaluation of the final papers.
