Bhubaneswar: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has again extended the thesis submission deadline for PhD and MPhil scholars.

As per the latest notification, the deadline for submission of theses for terminal M.Phil, Phd students has again been extended till December 2021. The deadline has been extended in view of the larger interest of research scholars.

“Keeping in view the larger interest of the research scholars, a further extension of six months beyond 30.06.2021, i.e., till 31st December 2021, for submission of thesis by M.Phil/Ph.D students may be granted by the Universities,” the UGC notice read.

The Commission has also asked Universities to grant an extension of six months for submitting evidence of publication and presentation in two conferences. However, tenure of fellowship will remain upto five years only.

It is pertinent to mention here that the University Grants Commission (UGC) had earlier extended the deadline for the second time last year for submission of thesis by students till June 30, 2021. The extension was allowed as most universities and colleges remain closed across the country in light of the Covid pandemic in 2020.

Earlier, the students were not been able to conduct their research experiments in the university laboratories, nor were they able to access library services that are critical for completion of thesis.
