Bhubaneswar: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the list of 78 Undergraduate (UG) & 46 Postgraduate (PG) MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses), which will be offered in January 2021 semester.

The tentative examination dates for these courses are May 8-9,2O2l, which will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the UGC said in a notification.

It is pertinent to mention here that the COVID-19 pandemic situation has resulted in the closure of higher education institutions across the country. It has also led to a new phase of digital online learning.

To encourage continuity of learning amongst students, UGC has shared with Universities and Colleges the links of various ICT initiatives of MoE & UGC including the MOOCs being offered on the SWAYAM platform (www.swavam.qov.in).

The various e-learning platforms of the Ministry of Education have seen an unprecedented combined access of over 1.4 crore since March 23, 2O2O. The national online education platform SWAYAM has been accessed nearly 2.5 lakh times, which was about a five time increaseover the figure of 50,000 strikes in the last week of March.

Several Universities have already accepted SWAYAM Courses for Credit Transfer, and remaining Universities are requested to kindly initiate urgent necessary steps and intimate the action taken in this regard.

As on date, 2425 faculty members, a total 228, SWAYAM Coordinators from universities and 2197, SWAYAM Mentors from Colleges have been identified by Universities and Colleges so far.

The institutions to which SWAYAM Coordinators and Mentors belong are termed as SWAYAM Local Chapters.

“If your university is yet to nominate a SWAYAM Coordinator, kindly nominate a faculty member as SWAYAM Coordinator and share the details on the official website of UGC. The Universities and Colleges are also requested to popularise these SWAYAM courses among Students & Faculty in their respective Universities and Colleges through website and various social media handles,” the notification added.
