Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication in collaboration with Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit (LBSRS) Vidyapeetha will introduce a short advanced course in Sanskrit journalism, IIMC Director General K G Suresh announced on Thursday.

The decision was taken at the IIMC Executive Council meeting on Friday.

Presently the programme will be promoted as a three-month certificate programme.

While LBSRS Vidyapeetha will provide the necessary language skills, IIMC will train students for the course.

IIMC, the premier media training institution in the country has recently launched full-fledged journalism courses in several regional languages like Urdu, Marathi and Malayalam to cater to the needs of students who opt to build career in regional media firms. Presently, IIMC branch at Dhenkanal is also providing journalism course in Odia.

Students can have good career prospects after taking up the course. Jobs in media firms carrying Sanskrit bulletins, magazines provide good platforms for such students.
