New Delhi: The Human Resource Development Ministry has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to abide by the order of the Madras High Court related to the usage of NCERT textbooks in its affiliated schools.

The High Court had said, “This court has every reason to believe that there is a hidden agenda between CBSE officials and private book publishers. That’s the reason why even a direction to use the NCERT books alone is being appealed by the CBSE. The CBSE is bound to follow the NCERT syllabus, which has been prescribed by experts.”

Besides, the HC directed CBSE to strictly use the NCERT supplied textbooks for students in its affiliated schools.

The HRD ministry has told the board to follow the HC order and make the NCERT syllabus and books mandatory in schools. “This has been communicated to the board. NCERT is publishing books in bulk and they have an excellent online system,” News18.com quoted an official from the ministry as saying.

On the other hand, the Board will soon released the date sheets for the CBSE class 10th and 12th board examinations 2019.

It is expected that the Board will release the date sheets sooner this year than usually it does. The Board used to release the date sheets in the month of January for the examinations that were held in March.
