Bhubaneswar: A couple of days after the regional office (Bihar-Jharkhand) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) directed its affiliated schools to suspend teachers for allotting wrong marks during the evaluation of answer copies of Class 10 and Class 12 exams, parents here raised concerns over the entire evaluation process.

It is pertinent to mention here that the CBSE found 70 examiners and coordinators who reportedly entered wrong marks during Class 10, 12 paper evaluations.

Though not such error report has come to the fore in Odisha, parents here said that such errors may have adverse effect on the future of their children.

“Here too, errors were earlier seen in the marking pattern. Some students were allotted low marks which were later changed. It’s disappointing for students,” said a member of a parent association here in the Capital city.

However, some feel that the board’s recent disciplinary action will help streamline the process and dither teachers from being callous during the evaluation process.

“It’s a welcome step of the CBSE. The examiners and coordinators will now be more careful while uploading marks of students' to the computer software. But there's a need to be more vigilant,” said another member of the association.
