Chennai: The director of collegiate education has reportedly directed all the arts and science colleges here to keep admissions open so that the students who are waiting for the CBSE Class 12 results can apply for admissions.

“Colleges should give applications to CBSE students. They should be given 10 days time from the data of declaration of CBSE Class XII results,” said a circular by the director of collegiate education, R Sarumathi.

The State board Class 12 results were on April 19, following which private, government and government-aided colleges started admission process while the Central Board of Secondary Education is likely to declare the CBSE Class 12 results in the first week of May.

As per the admission schedule released by director of collegiate education, the last date for applications prescribed as May 7, raising concerns among students and parents.

Meanwhile, according to a report of Times of India, some colleges have informed that they would reserve seats for CBSE students.

Around 25,000 students have reportedly appeared for Class 12 exam from the State while from Chennai alone, a total of about 15,000 students have appeared for the board exams.
