CBSE Class 10 Exam 2020: At a time when the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started preparations for Class 10 and Class 12 examinations, the Board has come up with a new change in the curriculum of Class 10 to ease the pressure on the students.

As per the latest change brought in by the CBSE, the board will conduct two separate examinations for Mathematics in Class 10 from the academic session 2020.

The first paper will be Basic Mathematics while the second paper will be Standard Mathematics. This will allow the students to choose one paper between the two as per their potential and abilities. For this, students will have to select their course preference while filling the registration form for the examination.

NOTE: Students who choose Basic Mathematics will not be allowed to take Mathematics in Class 11. However, if a student gets good marks in Basic Mathematics in Class 10 and subsequently wants to take Maths in Class 11, he/she will be allowed to do so under two conditions- first, the candidate will have to appear and pass the Maths compartmental exam 2020. Secondly, before appearing the compartmental examination, the candidate should have passed in Basic Mathematics and then only, s/he will be allowed to pursue Mathematics in Class 11.

Meanwhile, there are no changes in the syllabus of basic and standard mathematics papers. However, there will be some changes in the difficulty level of both the papers in which the Basic Maths will be comparatively easier than Standard Maths paper.

Therefore, the CBSE has advised the students to choose Standard Mathematics paper only when they are interested in the subject and want to pursue career in Mathematics or else they can choose Basic Maths paper.
