CBSE Class 10, 12 Exams 2020: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been instrumental in making teaching-learning process enjoyable and burden-free for students. In the last two to three months, the board has brought several big and small changes that will come into effect during board exams in 2020 and 2021.

However, among the many changes that were brought by the CBSE, the increase in the board examination registration fee was the biggest and major change. Now, let’s have a look on the developments that were introduced by the CBSE that students must know.

Increase In Registration Fee:

The CBSE had notified an increase in the examination fees for Class 10 and Class 12 and registration fees for Class 9 and Class 11 and migration fees.

While the fees for general category students for Classes 10 and 12 were doubled from Rs 750 to Rs 1500 for five subjects, the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, who were paying Rs 375 earlier, will now pay Rs 1200 for five subjects, as per the new norms of CBSE.

Similarly, the migration fees which was Rs 150 earlier, was been increased to Rs 350. Besides, students who did not pass their examination and seek readmission will now have to spend Rs 5,000.

No More Subject Change For Class 10, 12:

The Board recently directed its affiliated schools not to entertain any request for subject change in Classes 10 and Class 12 on account of parents or students making their own arrangements to study. To deal with the requests for subject change in classes 10 and 12, CBSE has framed Standard Operating Procedures for schools.

However, any request for change of subjects will be accepted provided such a request has been made before July 15 of the academic session, as per revised norms of the CBSE.

According to CBSE, classes 10 and 12 are a two-year course. Schools are expected to counsel students into opting subjects in classes 9 and 11 which they would like to continue in the next class and are available in the school.

Less Number Of Questions, Increase In Objective Questions:

In a major change brought by the CBSE in the exam pattern of Classes 10 and 12 this year, the board has planned to reduce the number of questions in majority of subjects and provide more options in selecting question to answer. This means, the length of question papers will comparatively shorten.

Besides, the board is mulling to increase the number of objective (one-mark) questions which range from 16.25% to 95% in some subjects up from 10-12%, said a Times of India report.

In a few subjects like English (language and literature) for Class X and Hindi, History and Biology for Class XII there will be more two-mark questions and fewer five to eight-mark ones, added TOI.

New Rules In CBSE Registration For Classes 9 and 10

CBSE has already started the registrations of students of classes 9 and 11 for 2019-2020 session from August 8. The Board has started the registration process two months in advance instead of in October. CBSE has advanced the registration process in order to streamline the examination related processes and provide sufficient time for all activities in schools and in the Board. The registration process will continue till September, 2019.
