Bhubaneswar: Though the dates for the CBSE board exams 2021 have been announced by the Education Minister, many students want the class 10, 12 exams to be cancelled.

A petition has been filed on change.org demanding cancellation of the CBSE board exams 2021, which is all set to be conducted from May 4 in online mode.

Expressing concerns over the conduct of the exam amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the students said that online classes have not been as helpful as the classroom teaching.

In the online petition, it is also said that several students failed to attend the classes online for various reasons like financial issues, lack of resources and proper internet facilities.

Terming the conduct of CBSE board exams in offline mode as unfair, it is said that students may not be able to give their best sans classroom sessions and proper guidance.

Students have also stated that keeping the current situation in mind, it will be unfair to conduct the CBSE board exams 2021 as not all students will be able to give their best without classroom sessions.

"The CBSE board exams 2021 would be very hard as 2020 has been a very tough year. The online classes were not helpful as many had network and current issues. So I request the CBSE director to cancel the board exams of 2021 as it will be very helpful for us," wrote a petitioner.

Besides, while proposing an alternative method of evaluation, the petition said that students can be evaluated on the basis of their internal marks- exams of which were earlier conducted by their schools.
