Bhubaneswar: In a major relief to the students of class 10 students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reduced the syllabus for the social sciences exam by removing five units from the social sciences theory topics.

The board has reportedly taken the decision in view of providing leeway to students in the CBSE class 10 board exam which is scheduled to be held on May 27.

The CBSE class 10 students can check the revised syllabus on CBSE's official website.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had earlier said, "In view of the extraordinary situation arising across the country due to Covid-19, CBSE has been advised to reschedule and reduce its syllabus."

CBSE has already reduced the syllabus by 30 per cent in various subjects, and school principals and teachers have been directed to ensure that students are explained about the reduced subject contents to combine different topics.

The board had earlier released the complete date-sheet for the upcoming Class 10, 12 board examinations. The Education Minister had tweeted the same:

In a video message, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhiryal said that gaps between different subjects have been provided to students to prepare well for the exams.

“Every focus has been given to ensure that the students do not feel any stress while appearing the upcoming board exams,” said Pokhriyal in the video message.
