New Delhi: In a major development, upholding the Constitutional validity of Aadhaar, the Supreme Court said that Aadhaar must not be made compulsory for school admissions and the school administration too, cannot make it mandatory. The Supreme Court also observed that Aadhaar is not mandatory for UGC, NEET & CBSE examinations.

The biometric data shall not be shared with any agency without the permission of the court, added SC.

The Supreme Court said education has taken us from thumb impression to signature, but now technology has taken us from signature to thumb impression.

The SC today declared the Centre's flagship Aadhaar scheme as Constitutionally valid.

The apex court's five-judge Constitution bench said Aadhaar means unique and it is better to be unique than being best.
