Beyond Boundaries: DigitalDurgaPuja.com To Bring The Goddess Live On Your Smart Phones
Bhubaneswar: With Covid pandemic not showing any signs of decline, virtual pandal-hopping apparently became the new normal this year. Under these circumstances, India saw the launch of DigitalDurgaPuja.com – an online platform that brings together various diversified Puja Committees and also provides relevant information, state-wise norms, regulations apart from sharing details of live streaming of Puja pandals across States.
As per reports, the Saheed Nagar Puja Committee of Bhubaneswar and the Town Puja Committee of Jharsuguda in Odisha are among the 50-plus committees across the nation that have registered with this platform to collaborate and help people view Durga Puja celebrations this year from the safe spaces of their homes.
Speaking about the purpose behind this futuristic concept, Shyamal Roy, the Chief Consultant of DigitalDurgaPuja.com said, “There are quite a few websites of Durga Puja Committees which are tough to locate even on Google. If one searches ‘Online Durga Puja Celebration in Bhubaneswar’, first 4-5 pages will show information regarding Durga Puja reports instead of the website links which direct people to various online streaming platforms of Durga Puja celebrations.
Therefore, we have taken this initiative to make it easier for the general public looking for exact links to the live streaming of Goddess Durga from the nearest localities.”
This year’s Rath Yatra and Ganesh Puja celebrations were held without public participation due to social distancing and other Covid norms and that is what drove us to come up with this idea, said Shyamal Roy, who along with Shilpi Roy, the chief executive officer of the UR Web Services, are the founding members of Digital Durga Puja.
“We are collaborating with the authorized representatives of the respective Puja committees”, he added.
Sources said the Rasulgarh Puja Committee and Jharpara Puja Committee in Bhubaneswar have also been approached for the same, but they are yet to respond.
