Bhubaneswar: On Friday, Odisha government's spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi expressed apprehensions about the possibilities of entering the community transmission phase. And the increasing magnitude of the pandemic has now prompted the State government to seek voluntary service by senior professionals with experience in vital fields to assist in the management and containment of COVID-19 on an honorary basis.

The State Government has invited expression of interest (EOI) from senior professionals with long experience of working in large corporate initiatives in health care, hospital infrastructure and management, international logistics and sourcing or equipment, accessories and materials and also exposure to working with governments, private and public charitable sectors.

A notification of the government stated that such individuals may write to the Chief Secretary for consideration to be engaged as Honorary Advisors to work with Government. They will be required to assist the Government at senior management level.

"The evolving scenario presents dynamic challenges which call for the highest level of professionalism. We have witnessed overwhelming interest from senior professionals across the globe to lend their expertise on a voluntary basis to the efforts of the State Government," the notification said.

Engagement of Microbiologists For COVID-19 Management

In another development, the State health & family welfare department has proposed engagement of microbiologists on a short-term basis for smooth functioning of DPHL and swab collection in view of COVID-19 outbreak.

"Microbiologist (Medico or Non-Medico) may be engaged on a short-term basis in case of vacancy and additional requirement, if any, for effective management of COVID-19:

The per-day remuneration of Microbiologist (Medico) will be Rs 5000 while those of Microbiologist (Non-Medico) would be Rs 2500.

The employees may be engaged on a walk-in-interview basis by the concerned Directors/CDM & PHOs of the District.

The engagement of the above employees shall be given initially till June 30, 2020, and may be extended further, if the situation warrants. The engagement is purely temporary and can be terminated at any point of time without assigning any reason thereof. All the above expenditure may be booked under Public Health Response Fund as per actuals, the notification read.
