Bhubaneswar: Odisha's Covid-19 death toll surged past 1500 on Saturday as 15 more patients undergoing treatment at various hospitals succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours. The total fatalities in Odisha now stand at 1,510, as per the data released by State Health And Family Welfare (H&HW) Department.

With 902 fresh cases during the period, the total coronavirus infections in the State surged to 3,07,906, the department informed. Of the fresh cases reported from 30 districts, 523 were detected from different quarantine centres while the remaining 379 are local contact cases. Mayurbhanj district recorded the highest 88 fresh Covid cases, followed by 85 in Sundargarh and 70 in Cuttack.

As many as five patients succumbed to Covid in Sundargarh district while four patients died in Khordha (including three in Bhubaneswar), followed by two deaths in Mayurbhanj. Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal and Puri districts recorded one death each, added the H&FW department.

The H&FW department has shared the details of the 15 Covid-19 patients who succumbed while undergoing treatment at various hospitals:

  1. A 60-year-old male of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  2. A 72-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & COPD.
  3. An 85-year-old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  4. A 53-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  5. A 48-year-old male of Jagatsinghpur district.
  6. A 75-year-old male of Kandhamal district.
  7. A 60-year-old male of Khordha district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  8. A 50-year-old female of Mayurbhanj district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  9. A 65-year-old female of Mayurbhanj district.
  10. A 74-year-old female of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  11. A 76-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & CHD.
  12. A 72-year-old female of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension, Anaemia & SCD.
  13. A 57-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  14. A 68-year-old female of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  15. A 65-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension & CKD.

As of now, at least 53 patients infected with COVID-19 have died due to pre-existing ailments, informed the H&FW Department.

A total of 47830 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tests to 5219014 in Odisha. The number of active cases in the state stands at 11,098 with 2,95,245 persons having recovered from the virus.
