Bhubaneswar: The coronavirus tally in Odisha jumped to 1103 with the detection of 51 fresh cases and one death on Thursday. As per the information provided by State Health and Family Welfare Department, the active cases now stand at 753 with 343 recoveries and seven deaths.
Sources said the patient who died from COVID-19 today belonged to Ganjam taking the death toll in the district to three. Odisha's total death toll is now at seven.

Out of the 51 cases detected today, four were from Ganjam, five from Jajpur, nine from Cuttack and two cases from Jagatsinghpur district.
Similarly, Angul reported two cases, Nayagarh-11, Puri-1, Sambalpur-2, Malkangiri-1, Mayurbhanj-3. The new cases reported today also included 11 cases from Kalahandi detected yesterday.

From the fresh cases detected in Odisha today, 48 cases were reported from quarantine centers while 3 were local cases. The lone patient who died today was an 85-year-old male Surat returnee from Ganjam district. He had prior complaints of hypertension and had other comorbidities as well, informed Odisha State and Family welfare Department.

The State health department released the details of 51 new coronavirus cases detected from various districts. Out of four patients detected in Ganjam today, three are Surat returnees and one local case while all five cases in Jajpur are Tamil Nadu returnees.
