Bhubaneswar: After reporting zero death on Wednesday, Odisha today recorded a single fatality due to Covid-19 infection while 230 persons were tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, said the state health department in its latest update.

The Covid-19 death toll in the State meanwhile has risen to 1,888 and the positive tally reached 3,31,151, as per the data released by the health department.

The deceased has been identified as a 70-year-old male Covid positive patient of Khordha district. He was suffering from Chronic Liver Disease with Pulmonary Hypertension & Chronic Kidney Disease.

Of the fresh Corona cases, 134 are from different quarantine centres while the rest 96 are cases related to local transmission, as per the State Information and Public Relations Department.

Sundargarh reported the maximum 30 cases followed by Angul (24), Bolangir (18), Bargarh (17) Jajpur (15), Sambalpur (15), Jharsuguda (14), Khordha (12), Cuttack (12), Nuapada (11), Mayurbhanj (11), Puri (10) and Balasore (10).

Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nayagarh districts did not report a single coronavirus case in the last 24 hours, added the I & PR department.

The number of active cases in Odisha stands at 2,202 and 3,27,008 have so far recuperated from the disease. As many as 70,86,730 samples, including 21,652 on Wednesday, have so far been tested for novel-Coronavirus in the State.
