Bhubaneswar: The daily count of Covid-19 cases in Odisha saw a further fall in the State with 638 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, the coronavirus tally jumped to 313961, as per the data released by the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Sunday.

At least 15 patients undergoing treatment at various hospitals succumbed to the disease taking the death toll in the State to 1640, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

Of the fresh cases, 373 are from quarantine, while 265 are related to local contact cases. Khordha district recorded the highest 70 new cases, followed by Mayurbhanj (65), Sundargarh (46) and Angul (40 cases). Gajapati district reported no new cases.

In terms of death, four persons succumbed to the disease in Sundargarh, while three died in Khordha and two deaths were reported in Keonjhar. Angul, Bolangir, Cuttack, Ganjam, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts saw one death each in the last 24 hours, said the H&FW Department.

The H&FW department has shared the details of the fifteen Covid-19 patients who succumbed while undergoing treatment at various hospitals:

  1. A 56-year-old male of Angul district.
  2. A 73-year-old male of Balangir district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  3. A 65-year-old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  4. A 69-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  5. A 52-year-old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  6. A 48-year-old female of Ganjam district.
  7. A 55-year-old male of Jharsuguda district who was also suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus & AKI & CLD.
  8. A 40-year-old male of Khordha district.
  9. A 70-year-old male of Keonjhar district.
  10. A 50-year-old male of Keonjhar district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  11. A 74-year-old male of Sambalpur district.
  12. A 91-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  13. A 77-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension & Old PTB.
  14. A 59-year-old female of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & CKD.
  15. A 62-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

As of now, at least 53 patients infected with COVID-19 have died due to pre-existing ailments, informed the H&FW Department.

A total of 45282 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tests to 5563926 in Odisha. The number of active cases in the state has come down to 7360 with 304908 persons having recovered from the virus so far.

Meanwhile, with 45,209 new coronavirus cases and 501 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India rose to 9095806 and 133227 deaths, as per morning data of the Union Health Ministry.

Total active cases in India stand at 440962 while 8521617 recuperated from the disease so far, added the Ministry.
