With an aim to bring efficiency and transparency in the system the Ministry of Railways has introduced E-office system in South Central Railways headquarters and Guntur division. Under the system introduced by the RailTel, E-office will replace manual filing system for day to day activities.

The Indian Railways, one of the largest employers in the country, has implemented E-office system through the RailTel in a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Programme, according to news agency ANI. The project was inaugurated today by Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav.

The E-office system will be fully implemented in the entire South Central Railways by June and other zonal headquarters and one division in each zone will be completed by December.

E-Office is cloud enabled software that is deployed/hosted from RailTel Tier III certified data centre.

The new system is built to bring together independent functions and systems under a single framework to increase transparency, accountability and transform the government work culture and ethics, according to ANI.
