India has reached a remarkable milestone in its journey as a global manufacturing hub. Apple’s iPhone exports from India hit $10 billion around (Rs 88,730 crore) in the first half of FY25, marking a 75% surge from $5.71 billion during the same period last year, according to The Economic Times.
September Surge Defies Seasonal Trends
Traditionally a quiet month before new iPhone launches, September 2025 saw a surprising export boom — $1.25 billion worth of iPhones shipped from India, up 155% year-on-year. Despite strong domestic demand for the newly launched iPhone 17 series, Indian plants efficiently met global supply needs.
Global Launches Now Include India
For the first time, Apple now ships all iPhone models, including Pro and Pro Max directly from India at launch. Earlier, India-made premium variants reached international markets months later. Export peaks are expected post-Diwali, driven by holiday demand in the US and Europe.
New Factories Power Growth
Apple’s export growth is fueled by two new facilities, Tata Electronics in Hosur and Foxconn in Bengaluru, both operational since April 2025. India now houses five iPhone factories, with production soaring from $2 billion in FY22 to $22 billion in FY25.
India’s Rising Export Powerhouse
Industry experts believe India will surpass last year’s export record, though future growth may hinge on US trade policies. Between April–August 2025, smartphone exports to the US hit $8.43 billion, up from $2.88 billion last year.
The Big Picture
India’s $10 billion milestone cements its place in Apple’s global strategy, a clear sign that the country is fast becoming the world’s next big electronics manufacturing hub.
