YouTube tutorial goes wrong; GM varsity student's ATM loot bid foiled

Sambalpur: Taking cues from a YouTube video, a student of Gangadhar Meher University attempted to loot a UCO Bank ATM at Bhudaraja area in the district late Thursday night. However, police foiled the attempt and seized two sets of iron blades, a piece of magnet and a spectacle without lenses from the spot.

The youth, identified as Kamal Charan Meher, is a second year BSc student of the university. He is a resident of Patnagarh town in Bolangir district.

As per reports, a police van patrolling the area nabbed Meher while he was trying to withdraw money from the ATM.

"During interrogation, Meher said he downloaded a YouTube tutorial on withdrawing money from ATMs without using any card," said sub-divisional police officer Gagarin Mohanty, adding that interrogation is still on.
