Woman doctor goes missing in Cuttack; probe begins

Cuttack: Police today began probe to trace the missing woman doctor of private hospital here after family members lodged a complaint alleging involvement of hospital authorities.

The doctor, identified as Mandakini Sethy, has been working in the hospital for over a year. However, since last six days, no one is aware of her whereabouts.

Alleging hospital authorities’ role behind the missing of Mandakini, her family said the doctor had some overdue payments that the hospital was denying to disburse.

“Payment was pending with the hospital due to which Mandakini had a spat with the concerned authorities. I suspect the involvement of the hospital authorities,” said Mandakini’s father Niranjan Sethy.

On the other hand, the director of the hospital Sagar Mohapatra denied any type of argument with Mandakini over payments.

“On the day of her missing, she came to the hospital at around 10:15 AM. Some of our staff informed us she was upset over some issues and crying before leaving the hospital at around 11 AM,” Mohapatra added.
