Tiff over gambling kills one, killers absconding

Ganjam: A person was beaten to death by a group of people reportedly over gambling in Pitala village under Hinjili police limits of Ganjam district on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Sanyasi Sahu of the same village.

The incident occurred when a group of gamblers were playing in the village Tuesday night. Suddenly a clash ensued between Sanyasi and other gamblers over some issue, following which, in a fit of rage, they beat him with wooden planks killing him on the spot.

On getting information, Hinjili police rushed to the spot and began investigation into the incident.

"Sanyasi has allegedly been murdered over gambling. The other gamblers involved in the murder are absconding. Further investigation is on to nab the assailants," said a police official.
