Jeypore: A tehsildar was injured grievously after a village guard allegedly attacked him with knife over a land dispute in Nandapur here in Koraput district on Thursday.

Injured Subrat Panigrahi was admitted to district headquarters hospital. His condition is stated to be stable.

According to police, village guard Damu Khemundu of Padua police station had met Nandapur tehsildar earlier seeking his intervention in a land related dispute. "The matter was sub-judice. Today, the tehsildar refused to intervene in it as the land is unauthorised," Rao pointed out.

Irked, Khemundu stabbed him with a knife while Panigrahi was returning from the office today, Rao said.

Meanwhile, the accused village guard was arrested and will be forwarded to court soon, Rao added.
