Pregnant woman raped in Ganjam

Berhampur: A pregnant woman was allegedly raped by a person at Rameshwarpalli village under Jagannath Prasad police limits in Ganjam district on Saturday.

The incident took place today morning when the woman was on her way to take bath in a nearby canal.

As per reports, the accused grabbed her from behind and forced him upon her. However, after hearing the cries of the woman some villagers rushed to the spot and rescued her.

The locals later blackened the face of the accused and shaved his head after apprehending him. They also thrashed him before handing him over to police.

The woman is currently undergoing treatment at Jagannath Prasad hospital.
