Shame! Woman alleges rape by father-in-law

Kendrapara: Close on the heels of death of a woman after she was raped and set on fire by her father-in-law in Mayurbhanj, another woman has brought similar charges of being raped several times by her father-in-law at Naukana village under Rajnagar police limits in Kendrapara district.

In a FIR, the woman has said that taking advantage of her husband’s absence in the house, who works in Hyderabad, her father-in-law had raped her number of times in the past.

The woman even alleged that the accused once tied her limbs and outraged her modesty inhumanly.

Based on the complaint, police have arrested the accused and started a probe to ascertain whether someone else was also involved in the matter.

"We have registered a case and arrested the accused based on the written complaint by the woman. Both of them were also sent for medical examination," Rajnagar PS IIC, Sukant Patra said.

Earlier last month, a 23-year-old woman died after she was set on fire following rape by her father-in-law at Rairangpur town in Mayurbhanj district.
