Notorious criminal injured in encounter in Puri

Puri: District police nabbed dreaded criminal Kalia Muduli during an encounter here at Chhaitana under Gop tehsil late on Tuesday night.

Acting on a tip off, police raided Chhaitana village, where Kalia was suspected to be hiding and shot at his right leg during the encounter.

Kalia suffered critical injuries and was initially admitted to Puri district headquarters hospital and later shifted to Cuttack SCB when his condition started to deteriorate.

Sources said Kalia is a most wanted accused in as many as 18 different criminal cases including bombing and extortion. He was the prime accused in connection with Vishal garments bombing case in the town. He also used to collect extortion money and was also jailed earlier.
