Minor rape accused to serve orphans for a year

Phulbani: Juvenile Justice Board, Phulbani in a trendsetting judgement on Thursday sentenced a minor rape accused to a one year stay at Gopabandhu Children's Home in Phulbani.

The board ordered that the 14-year-old accused of raping a 3-year-old girl in 2014, in Daringbadi of Kandhamal district, will have to serve the inmates of the Children's Home for a year.

He will be shifted from Juvenile Home in Berhampur to Gopabandhu Children's Home where his activities will be observed by the District Child Protection Officer.

The public prosecutor of Juvenile Justice Board Pratap Patra said that the accused will be able to realise his mistake and his character will change in coming days.
