Loot at bizman’s house: Five arrested, jewellery worth lakhs seized

Cuttack: Police today arrested five persons in connection with a robbery at the house of a Chauliaganj-based businessman, Purusottam Lal Kandoi.

According to Police sources, the domestic help of Kandoi, Chandan Sahani was the mastermind who along with others carried out the robbery while family members were out of the city.

As per the complaint, gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 25 lakh was stolen while the family was out of station.

Acting on the complaint, the Chauliaganj Police arrested five persons along with Sahani and seized gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 9 lakh along with Rs 27, 000 cash from their possession.

Three more men, who are suspected to be involved in the robbery, are on the run, police said.
