Berhampur Ex-Mayor Siba Shankar Dash walks out of jail on bail

Berhampur: After spending one year in prison, former mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation, Siba Shankar Dash, walked out of Berhampur circle jail on bail. He was granted bail by Additional District and Sessions court, Berhampur, on Tuesday.

"I was granted bail as the cases against me are false. I have good relations with both BJD and BJP,” Dash said soon after being released.

Dash had resigned from BJD and unsuccessfully contested from Berhampur assembly constituency on BJP ticket in 2014.

He was arrested from New Delhi by a special police team in July last year. Around 37 cases related to murder attempt, illegal use of explosives, extortion and threats are pending against him in different police stations of Ganjam district.

Dash has a long list of criminal activities since 1998, police sources said.
