Cuttack/Angul: Seven criminals wanted in several loot and robbery cases were nabbed by police in two separate incidents on Sunday.

Lalbag police arrested one accused involved in looting silver accessories of Goddess Durga from Alisha Bazaar puja mandap in October 20 last year.

Sources said a special team of the twin city police arrested the accused from Vishakhapatnam and is likely to bring him on transit remand for interrogation.

Miscreants had allegedly looted at least 40 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 19 lakh from Alisha puja mandap on October 20 after the completion of Dussehra last year.

In another incident, Chhendipada police in Angul district nabbed six dacoits for their alleged involvement in a robbery case registered at Kundheigola police station in Deogarh district.

Acting on a tip off, police nabbed all six of them travelling on an auto rickshaw in front of the police station. Cops also seized Rs 61,480 and six mobile phones from their possession.

All six of them have been handed over to the jurisdiction of Kundheigola police station.
