Cuttack: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch today submitted chargesheet against suspected Al Qaeda operative Abdur Rehman in Salipur Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court today.  The court instructed that Rehman will be lodged at Choudwar jail and his next hearing will be held at district and sessions judge court in Cuttack.

He was brought back from Delhi's Tihar jail to Cuttack amid beefed-up security and was under Malgodown police custody since last night.

The probe agency submitted a 574-page chargesheet to the court against Rehman. The court heard the case on illegal Madrasa run by him near Tangi on the outskirts of Cuttack city.

As the judge was on leave on May 29, the court had asked the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch to produce the accused again on June 12.

The judge in-charge had sent Rehman on a 14-day remand on May 29.

Rehman was arrested by a joint team of the Delhi Police special cell and the Commissionerate Police from Paschimkachcha village in Cuttack district following a raid on December 15, 2015 on charges of running a madrasa illegally and involvement in recruiting members for AQIS.
