Three people lost their lives while two others were critically injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a scooter in Keonjhar district on Friday. The horrific accident occurred near Sarupat on the Chandapashi–Pandapada road under Ghatagaon police limits.
According to reports, the impact of the collision was so severe that all three victims died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Dushasan Barik from Asanabahali village, Lakshman Senapati, and Manoj Kumar Dalei of Balabhadrapur village. Two others — Raja Naik of Balabhadrapur village and Rahul Naik of Asanabahali — sustained critical injuries in the crash. They were immediately rescued and shifted to Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition remains serious, according to hospital sources.
Upon receiving information, Ghatagaon police arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation. The mangled motorcycle and scooter involved in the crash have been seized. Preliminary investigations suggest high speed may have been a factor, but the exact cause will be determined after further inquiry.
The incident has raised concerns among locals, who allege that rash driving and poor road discipline have led to repeated accidents in the region. They have urged authorities to take necessary measures to prevent such tragedies.
