Four persons were killed and two sustained critical injuries in two separate tragic road accidents in Koraput and Rayagada districts.
In the first incident, two youths were killed on the spot after two motorcycles collided head-on near a petrol pump at Narayanpatna in Koraput district late on Wednesday night.
Another person was critically injured and has been shifted to Berhampur for advanced treatment. The deceased youths were identified as residents of Gadabaguda village under Narayanpatna police limits.
Following the mishap, their families and locals staged a protest on the road demanding action, triggering tension in the area.
In another accident, a tipper truck lost control and rammed into a roadside tree near Valeri Kudia village under Gunupur police station limits in Rayagada district on Thursday morning.

The truck had reportedly unloaded sand in Gunupur and was returning when the accident occurred. All the victims were rushed to Gunupur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where two were declared dead.
