Bike-truck collision claims lives of 3 youths near PN College in Khordha Photograph: (OTV)
A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three youths when a speeding container truck allegedly rammed into their motorcycle near PN College on the National Highway in Khordha late on Tuesday night.
While the identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained, it is learnt that all three deceased are residents of the Delanga area in Puri.
According to eyewitnesses, the victims were travelling on a bike from Bhubaneswar on the wrong route when the mishap occurred. They were not wearing any helmets.
The bike collided with the container truck head-on, causing the death of a youth on the spot, while the other two succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital, sources added. The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Khordha district headquarters hospital for post-mortem.
The container truck that caused the accident fled the scene immediately after the collision. Industrial Police reached the spot shortly after the accident and initiated an investigation.

Later, the container truck was seized by the police, and the driver of the vehicle was detained. The accident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with local residents expressing concern over frequent mishaps on this busy highway stretch.
