Among these, ladies coaches are intended to provide a safer, more comfortable space for women travellers. However, a recent incident circulating widely on social media has raised fresh questions about security and vigilance inside these reserved compartments.

Suspicious Entry Sparks Alarm

In a viral clip, a person in burqa is seen surrounded by women. According to the women chatter, the person in burqa is a man and he entered the ladies coach on a Mumbai local train in Ghatkopar.

Passengers reportedly grew suspicious of the individual’s behaviour. When caught red-handed, the man fled to another train. 

As alleged, the man was inappropriately touching the women passengers onboard and he also planned to steal valuables from the passengers.

Passengers Take Action

Instead of ignoring the situation, the women chose to respond collectively. While the women passengers stayed still on train, they lodged a complaint at Ghatkopar police station following which investigation was reportedly initiated. Their swift action has been widely discussed as an example of commuters standing up for their own safety.

Clip Goes Viral, Triggers Debate

While the original of the clip couldn’t be traveling, it is shared on X by Woke Eminent. The video has gone viral on social media triggering debate. Several users reacted strongly.

One user wrote, "So burqa is a multipurpose tent! Ridiculous." (sic)

Another wrote, "No worries Mumbai local me ilaaj ho jayega iska." (sic) 

"Nikal pheko is clown ko," wrote another user. (sic)
